We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michael de Oliveira has joined the Quantum Computing Research Center at the Hon Hai Research Institute.
Michael got his Ph.D. from the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL). His research focuses on quantum circuit synthesis, complexity theory, and identifying quantum computational advantage, particularly for near-term (NISQ) devices.
Michael brings a wealth of international academic and industrial experience to our team:
Academic Excellence: He has been a visiting Ph.D. student at Sorbonne University and a visiting researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the University of Innsbruck.
Industrial Expertise: He previously served as a Quantum Computing Theory Research Scientist at IBM and has worked with Hon Hai as a researcher since late 2024.
Scholarly Impact: His work has been published in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Quantum. He has also presented his findings at leading conferences including QIP, TQC, and AQIS.
A recipient of the "New Talents in Quantum Tech" award from the Gulbenkian Foundation, Michael is one of only eight national recipients in his award year. We look forward to his contributions in advancing quantum algorithms and verification techniques at the Institute.
Welcome to the team, Michael!
