Personal information

Enrico Fontana is a PhD candidate at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and jointly at the UK’s National Physical Laboratory and at Quantinuum. He focuses on near- and medium-term algorithms for noisy quantum computers, specifically variational quantum algorithms (VQAs). He has worked on exploring the noise resilience of VQAs, the noise-induced barren plateau phenomenon, error mitigation techniques, and more recently on the interplay between noise and simulatability and Fourier decompositions of VQA optimization landscapes
