【講題】A Strategy for Growth in Power and Opto-Electronics
【摘要】
• This presentation describes a strategy for growth in power electronics and opto-electronics, which are two technologies being developed by the Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult as part of its focus on Net Zero and Future Telecom Networks.
• As the UK’s leading semiconductor research and technology organisation, the CSA Catapult reviewed the UK’s semiconductor industry to inform a Parliamentary inquiry. This review considered the strategic importance of semiconductors in the light of global megatrends and recent shortages.
• The review considered the role of different types of semiconductor, which were classified according to their material: silicon, compound and emerging semiconductors. The review identified UK strengths relating to all three types of semiconductors, whilst highlighting ways to improve resilience and economic security.
• This presentation describes the strategic review, highlighting UK strengths in power electronics and opto-electronics, and their application in Net Zero and Future Telecom Networks. The presentation concludes with recommendations to improve resilience and economic security through international partnerships with complementary organisations such as ITRI in Taiwan.
