The emerging Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is expected to transform the everyday vehicular experience in the near future. However, IoV will also bring unprecedented challenges unseen in traditional wireless communications systems. Fortunately, the emergence of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) technology provides an intelligent solution for IoV networks. In this paper, we propose an edge intelligent framework in compliance with O-RAN architecture with the vehicle traffic flow prediction mechanism for IoV networks. Through the experiments with a real-world dataset, some insights and guidelines are provided in terms of operational efficiency and applicability. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first attempt to study the applicability of edge intelligence for O-RAN based IoV networks.
