Speaker: Ko-Wei Tseng (Ph.D. student in NUS)
Title: quantum computing with trapped ions
Abstract: This talk will cover why trapped ions system, especially Yb171, can fulfil all ‘DiVincenzo’s criteria’ [1] and become one of the leading candidates for quantum computation hardware platform. During the talk, I will especially focus on the experimental detail such as how to load/trap ions, how to achieve state detection and how to implement quantum gates with lasers [2] . At the end of the talk, the current challenge of trapped ion architecture and the potential directions to achieve scalability [3] will also be discussed.
